Massey Ferguson 04.00.06 – TRANS: Issue With Signal Voltage From Foot Throttle Sensor

The signal voltage coming from the foot throttle (accelerator pedal) potentiometer is outside of its expected operating parameters. This is typically logged when the signal is either above the maximum range, below the minimum range, or when there is no signal detected at all (open circuit).

   Check the wiring between the foot throttle sensor and the Transmission Module for any open circuits, short circuits to ground, or short circuits to an external voltage source.

   Inspect the electrical connector at the foot throttle sensor for loose pins, corrosion, or physical damage that could cause a loss of signal or erratic voltage.

   Power down the tractor and ensure the key is removed from the ignition.

   Ensure the machine is completely powered off before beginning work.

   Locate the foot throttle sensor assembly at the base of the accelerator pedal.

   Find the sensor assembly to begin inspection.

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor and perform the wiring/connector checks.

   Check for open circuits, short circuits, loose pins, corrosion, or physical damage.

   Replace the foot throttle sensor / accelerator pedal assembly.

   If the wiring and connector are verified to be in good working order, the fault lies within the sensor itself. Unbolt and replace the assembly.

   Install the new sensor, reconnect the electrical harness, and clear the fault codes from the TRANS module.

   Ensure the new sensor is properly connected and clear the codes to reset the system.

   Test the pedal operation.

   Ensure the transmission module is receiving the correct voltage sweep without throwing the 04.00.06 code.
