Massey Ferguson 04.00.19 – Transmission Control Module (TRANS): Issue With The Stored Values For The Foot Throttle

The electronic control system has detected that the calibration parameters or stored memory values for the foot throttle sensor (potentiometer) are missing, have drifted, or are no longer matching the expected baseline. When this happens, the controller cannot accurately determine the physical position of the throttle pedal, which may result in the tractor defaulting to a limited operating mode or inhibiting RPM requests.

   Visually inspect the foot throttle pedal assembly for physical damage, packed dirt, or debris that might be preventing the pedal from returning to its true 'zero' position or reaching its maximum travel.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the connector at the foot throttle sensor for corrosion, moisture, or loose pins.

   Perform a voltage sweep test using a multimeter or diagnostic tool to verify the signal voltage from the foot throttle sensor (expected range is 0.5V at idle to 4.5V at full throttle).

   Check for accompanying fault codes such as 04.00.20 or 04.00.22, which confirm a hard electrical failure rather than just a calibration drift.

   Clean and Secure

   If debris was found under the pedal, clean the area thoroughly. Disconnect the sensor connector, spray with electrical contact cleaner, and reconnect securely.

   Recalibrate the Sensor

   Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or WinTest software to the tractor's diagnostic port.

   Perform Foot Throttle Calibration

   Navigate to the Transmission (TRANS) module settings and initiate the Foot Throttle Calibration procedure. You will be prompted to leave the pedal at rest, and then fully depress it to store the new minimum and maximum values in the ECU's EEPROM.

   Replace the Sensor (If Calibration Fails)

   If the diagnostic tool cannot complete the calibration, or if the voltage sweep test showed dead spots/out-of-range values, the potentiometer inside the sensor has failed. Remove the mounting bolts holding the sensor to the pedal assembly and install a new sensor.

   Final Calibration & Clearing

   After installing a new sensor, you must perform the calibration procedure again so the TRANS module can learn the new sensor's specific voltage parameters. Clear the 04.00.19 fault code and test drive the tractor to verify throttle response.
