Massey Ferguson 04.00.20 – TRANS: Issue With Signal Voltage From Foot Throttle Sensor
Issue description
The electronic signal voltage being sent from the foot throttle (accelerator pedal) potentiometer to the control module is outside of the expected or plausible range (e.g., signal above maximum range, below minimum range, or no signal at all).

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness connecting the foot throttle sensor to the transmission module for any signs of physical damage, chafing, or breaks.
Disconnect the sensor and check the electrical connector for corrosion, moisture, or loose/backed-out pins.
Test the wiring circuit for a short to ground or a short to an external voltage source.
Use a multimeter or an AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool to verify if the sensor is outputting a smooth, linear voltage signal as the pedal is depressed.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical system.
Access the Sensor
Locate the foot throttle sensor assembly, which is mounted at the base of the accelerator pedal in the cab.
Disconnect Wiring
Unplug the electrical connector from the throttle sensor.
Remove the Faulty Sensor
Unbolt the mounting hardware securing the throttle sensor (or the entire pedal assembly, depending on the specific tractor model's configuration) and remove it.
Install the New Part
Mount the new OEM throttle control sensor/pedal assembly and secure the bolts.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical connector back into the sensor and reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes and Test
Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 04.00.20 fault code from the TRANS module. Start the tractor and test the foot throttle operation to ensure the code does not return and the engine responds correctly.
