Check the cause
Inspect the transmission range button (usually located on the main control armrest or speed lever) for physical damage, sticking, or debris preventing full depression.
Trace the wiring harness from the range button down to the Transmission Control Module. Look for chafed wires, pinched harnesses in the armrest pivot points, or loose/corroded connector pins.
Disconnect the switch and use a multimeter to test the continuity of the range button. Verify that the circuit opens and closes cleanly when the button is pressed and released.
With the key ON, check the connector for proper reference voltage and ground coming from the TRANS module.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.
Access the Switch
Carefully remove the trim or housing on the armrest/console to expose the underside of the transmission control lever and the range button assembly.
Remove the Faulty Component
Unplug the electrical connector from the range button. Unclip or unscrew the button assembly from its mounting point.
Install the New Part
Snap or screw the replacement transmission range button into place and reconnect the electrical harness. Ensure the wiring is routed away from any pinch points in the armrest.
Reassemble and Test
Reinstall the console trim and reconnect the battery.
Clear Codes
Use a compatible diagnostic tool to clear the 04.00.2B fault code from the TRANS module. Start the tractor and test the transmission range shifting to ensure the issue is resolved.
