Issue description
In Massey Ferguson continuously variable transmissions (like the Dyna-VT), the turbo clutch solenoid valve is designed to open the high-pressure circuit to the tank, which drops the pressure to allow the "turbo clutch" function (smooth stopping/starting without stalling). This fault code triggers when the system commands the turbo clutch solenoid to activate, but the expected hydraulic pressure drop does not occur. This typically indicates that the valve is mechanically jammed closed, there is a hydraulic blockage, or there is an electrical issue preventing the valve from physically actuating despite the command.

Check the cause
Fluid and Filter Check: Check the transmission oil level and inspect the transmission filter. Contaminated fluid or a blocked filter can cause debris to jam the sensitive turbo clutch solenoid valve.
Visual & Electrical Inspection: Locate the turbo clutch solenoid on the transmission valve block. Inspect the wiring harness and connector for corrosion, broken wires, or loose pins.
Diagnostic Tool Monitoring: Using the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or WinTest, monitor the "Turbo clutch valve current mA" to ensure the Transmission ECU is actually sending the correct electrical command to the valve.
Mechanical Valve Check: If the electrical command is present but the pressure does not drop, the valve is likely mechanically jammed (stuck closed) and requires replacement.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake. Allow the transmission to cool and relieve any residual hydraulic pressure.
Locate the Valve
Locate the transmission control valve block. Identify the specific turbo clutch solenoid valve (often designated as Y004 in AGCO/Fendt/MF CVT documentation).
Disconnect
Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the turbo clutch solenoid.
Removal
Remove the retaining bolts or snap ring holding the solenoid valve in the block. Extract the valve carefully, being prepared to catch a small amount of transmission fluid.
Inspection & Cleaning
Inspect the valve bore for scoring or debris. Clean the mating surface and bore thoroughly with a lint-free cloth.
Installation
Lubricate the O-rings on the new OEM solenoid valve with clean transmission fluid. Insert the new valve into the block and secure it with the retaining hardware.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical harness to the new solenoid.
Testing
Top up the transmission fluid if necessary. Connect your diagnostic tool, clear the 04.00.46 fault code, and test drive the tractor to verify that the turbo clutch function operates smoothly and the pressure drops as commanded.
