Check the cause
Verify the tractor's battery voltage and inspect the wiring harness, as low supply voltage to the transmission module or CAN BUS communication drops can cause false internal software errors.
Connect a compatible diagnostic tool (such as AGCO EDT, Wintest, or Jaltest AGV) to read the current software version of the TCU.
Check for related calibration codes, such as 04.00.EC (Drive Pedal Not Calibrated), 04.00.ED (Clutch Pedal Not Calibrated), or 04.00.EE (Transmission Calibration Issue).
Repair steps
Connect Diagnostic Equipment
Hook up the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or an equivalent advanced aftermarket tool (like Jaltest AGV) to the tractor.
Flash / Update Software
Navigate to the transmission controller menu and perform a software flash to update the TCU to the latest firmware version provided by AGCO. This resolves the vast majority of 'Internal Software Issue' codes.
Perform Calibrations
Because a software flash resets the module's operating parameters, you must perform a full transmission calibration. This includes calibrating the clutch pedal, drive pedal, and transmission range sensors.
Clear Codes and Test
Clear the 04.00.E6 fault code from the system memory and test drive the tractor to ensure the transmission shifts smoothly and the code does not return.
Module Replacement (If Necessary)
If the diagnostic tool cannot communicate with the TCU, the software flash repeatedly fails, or the code returns immediately after a successful flash, the internal memory of the controller has failed. The TCU must be physically replaced and programmed.
