Massey Ferguson 04.00.F0 – TRANS (Transmission Control Module / Autotronic Controller): Transmission Calibration Issue

The transmission control system has lost its calibration parameters, the stored values are out of range, or the transmission components (clutches/valves) have worn to a point where a re-learn procedure is required for smooth operation.

   Ensure transmission fluid is at normal operating temperature (calibration will fail or be rejected if the oil is too cold)

   Run a diagnostic scan (using AGCO Wintest, Jaltest, or Texa IDC5) to ensure there are no active speed sensor faults, which commonly interrupt calibration

   Verify the PowerShuttle lever, hydraulic control lever switches, and the armrest control joystick are functioning properly

   Use a multimeter to check for continuity in the shuttle switches if the tractor refuses to enter calibration mode

   Warm Up

   Start the tractor and bring the transmission fluid up to operating temperature.

   Enter Calibration Mode

   Press and hold the "Up" and "Down" shift buttons simultaneously for approximately 10 seconds. Hold them until the right-hand screen on the dash (the transmission gear screen) displays "Ct".

   Initiate Calibration

   Once "Ct" is displayed, place the PowerShuttle arm into the Forward position.

   Wait

   The calibration process will begin and takes approximately 10 minutes. The screen will continuously display "Ct". Note: It is completely normal to hear the transmission shifting, clunking, and making hydraulic noises during this phase.

   Completion

   Once finished, the right-hand screen will stop displaying "Ct" and will show the transmission ratio you were in prior to starting (e.g., "1A/2A" or "1E/2E").

   Save Settings

   To store the new calibration values, place the PowerShuttle into the Neutral position, disengage the differential lock, let the tractor idle down, and turn the engine off.

   Validate

   Restart the tractor and test drive it. Perform a variety of maneuvers (forward to reverse, neutral to forward, etc.) to ensure the shifting is smooth and the 04.00.F0 code has cleared. (Note: If the calibration fails to complete, a diagnostic tool like AGCO EDT/Wintest is required to calibrate the forward travel lever, FingerTIP controls, or joystick manually).
