Massey Ferguson 04.01.04 – TRANS (Transmission Control Module / TCU): Issue With Signal Voltage From Clutch Pedal Sensor (TRANS)

The voltage signal being sent from the clutch pedal position sensor (or switch) to the controller is outside of the expected or calibrated parameters. This can be caused by a failed sensor, a wiring issue (such as a short to +12V or ground), or a sensor that has lost its mechanical calibration.

   Inspect the clutch pedal linkage and sensor mounting fork for physical wear, binding, or damage. A stiff or binding pedal can cause erratic sensor readings.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the clutch pedal sensor. Look for chafed wires causing a short circuit to +12V or a short to ground.

   Determine if the sensor has simply lost its calibration limits (often accompanied by dash code 00.00.33). Attempt a clutch pedal calibration before replacing the hardware.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the clutch pedal sensor/switch assembly on the clutch pedal linkage inside the cab.

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the sensor. Unbolt the sensor bracket or retaining hardware and remove the faulty sensor.

   Installation

   Install the new OEM clutch pedal sensor and secure it to the linkage. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Calibration

   Enter the tractor's diagnostic/calibration menu via the dash. Follow the prompts to calibrate the clutch pedal sensor (usually involves pressing the pedal fully and releasing it). To save the settings, place the PowerShuttle into the neutral position, disengage the differential lock, idle the tractor down, and switch the engine off.

   Validation

   Restart the tractor and test the clutch engagement in forward and reverse to ensure smooth shifting and that the 04.01.04 code has cleared.
