Massey Ferguson 04.01.05 – TRANS: Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 Signal Voltage Issue

The transmission control system is receiving an irregular, out-of-range, or missing electrical voltage signal from the second high-pressure sensor (often designated as sensor X34 in MF wiring schematics) located on the transmission hydraulic system.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 for corrosion, moisture ingress, or damaged pins.

   Verify the reference voltage reaching the sensor using a multimeter (typically an 8.5V supply from the control module).

   Test wiring continuity between the sensor connector and the Transmission Control Module to ensure there are no open circuits or shorts to ground.

   Use a mechanical hydraulic pressure gauge on the transmission test port to verify actual transmission pressure, ruling out a mechanical failure.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the ParkLock or hand brake, power down the engine, and disconnect the battery.

   Removal

   Locate Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 on the transmission housing block. Disconnect the electrical harness. Unthread the sensor from the housing (have a clean catch pan ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid may leak).

   Installation

   Thread the new sensor into the port and tighten it to the OEM specified torque. Reconnect the electrical harness securely.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the battery and top off any lost transmission hydraulic fluid.

   Calibration

   Perform a transmission calibration systematically via the tractor's terminal/dashboard. This must be done immediately after the range calibration, with the hand brake applied (or ParkLock engaged), Power Control lever in the neutral position, and the High/Low speed range in neutral.
