04.01.06

Massey Ferguson 04.01.06 – Transmission Control Module (TRANS) / Dash: Issue With Signal Voltage From Foot Throttle Sensor

Issue description

The signal voltage being sent from the accelerator pedal position sensor is out of its calibrated range. The system triggers this code if the voltage drops below 0.5V or exceeds 4.5V, or if there is a failure in the 8.5V reference supply to the sensor, often causing the tractor to default to an emergency/limp mode.

Check the cause

  1. Check the fuses associated with the A013 8.5V supply (often Fuse 4 or Fuse 19, depending on the exact model/cab layout).

  2. Inspect the wiring pigtail and connector at the foot throttle pedal for chafing, corrosion, or loose pins.

  3. Verify the sensor is receiving its 8.5V reference voltage using a multimeter.

  4. Back-probe the signal wire while sweeping the pedal; the voltage should smoothly transition between 0.5V and 4.5V without dropping out.

Repair steps

  1. Power down

Turn off the tractor and remove the key.

  2. Access the sensor

Locate the foot throttle sensor assembly mounted at the pivot point of the accelerator pedal in the cab.

  3. Disconnect and remove

Unplug the electrical connector from the sensor. Remove the mounting screws/bolts securing the rotary potentiometer to the pedal assembly.

  4. Install the new sensor

Mount the replacement sensor in the same orientation, ensuring the mechanical linkage/tang aligns correctly with the pedal pivot. Secure the mounting hardware.

  5. Reconnect

Plug the electrical harness back into the sensor.

  6. Calibrate

Turn the key on. Depending on the model, use the Datatronic monitor or the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to perform a throttle pedal calibration so the ECU learns the new minimum and maximum voltage limits.

  7. Clear codes

Clear the 04.01.06 fault code from the TRANS/Dash module and test drive the tractor to ensure full throttle response is restored.
