Massey Ferguson 04.01.15 – TRANS2: Transmission Pressure Switch Open When Engine Is Running
Issue description
The transmission control module expects the transmission pressure switch to close (indicating adequate hydraulic pressure) once the engine is running. Because the circuit remains "open," the system is either experiencing a genuine loss of transmission hydraulic pressure, a broken wire/disconnected plug, or a internally failed pressure switch.

Check the cause
Verify the transmission/hydraulic fluid level is correct. Low fluid can cause a genuine low-pressure situation.
Inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission pressure switch. Look for severed wires, rubbed insulation, or a disconnected/corroded plug.
Unplug the switch and test it with a multimeter. It should show an open circuit when the engine is off, and a closed circuit (continuity) when the engine is running and pressure is applied. If it remains open while the engine is running, the switch is likely faulty.
If the switch tests fine or a new switch does not clear the code, connect a mechanical hydraulic pressure gauge to the transmission test port to verify the transmission pump is actually generating the required pressure.
Repair steps
Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, engage the parking brake, and allow the system to cool.
Locate the transmission pressure switch on the side of the transmission housing or hydraulic valve block.
Thoroughly clean the area around the switch to prevent dirt from entering the transmission.
Depress the locking tab and disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
Using a wrench, unthread the faulty pressure switch.
Have a shop rag ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid will seep out.
Thread the new transmission pressure switch into the port by hand to prevent cross-threading, then tighten it to the manufacturer's torque specification.
Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring it clicks securely into place.
Start the engine and monitor the dashboard.
The TRANS2 module should recognize the closed circuit, and fault code 04.01.15 should move to an inactive state or clear entirely. Check the new switch for leaks.
