Massey Ferguson 04.01.19 – TRANS (Transmission Module): Issue With The Stored Values For The Foot Throttle (TRANS)

Issue description

This indicates that the controller has detected that the calibration values (the learned minimum and maximum voltage parameters) for the foot throttle position sensor are missing, corrupted, or out of the acceptable range.

Check the cause

  1. Check the foot throttle pedal assembly for physical damage, binding, or debris (like dirt or floor mats) that might be preventing the pedal from achieving its full range of travel.

  2. Check the foot throttle sensor wiring harness for a short circuit to ground (specifically check the reference supply lines and supply pins).

  3. Monitor the signal voltage from the foot throttle sensor while slowly depressing the pedal. The voltage should sweep smoothly without any dropouts or spikes.

  4. Check if the module has lost its calibration memory due to a voltage drop or software glitch, as the code specifically flags 'Stored Values'.

Repair steps

  1. Clear and Recalibrate

Clear the fault codes and perform a foot throttle/transmission calibration procedure to force the Transmission Module to relearn the zero and wide-open throttle positions.

  2. Inspect and Repair Wiring

If calibration fails or the code immediately returns, disconnect the battery and inspect the harness connecting the foot throttle to the TRANS module. Repair any chafed wires or corroded connector pins.

  3. Replace the Sensor/Pedal

If the wiring is intact but the sensor fails a voltage sweep test, remove the mounting hardware securing the foot throttle assembly to the cab floor.

  4. Disconnect and Remove

Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the faulty sensor or pedal assembly.

  5. Install New Sensor/Pedal

Install the new OEM foot throttle sensor/pedal and reconnect the harness.

  6. Final Calibration

You must perform a throttle calibration after installing a new sensor so the Transmission Module can store the new baseline values.
