Check the cause
Perform diagnostic tests on the sensors using the official Massey Ferguson Wintest software to identify if the issue is the sensor itself or a wiring/harness fault.
Visually inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the sensor for corrosion, moisture, or physical damage.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Always disconnect the tractor's battery before starting work to prevent electrical damage or short circuits.
Locate the Sensor
The transmission output speed sensor is typically accessible from underneath the tractor, mounted on the transmission housing near the output shaft.
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the sensor mounting area and the electrical connector to prevent dirt and debris from entering the transmission housing when the old sensor is removed.
Remove and Replace
Unplug the electrical connector, unthread/remove the old sensor, and install the new direct-replacement sensor.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect the electrical harness, reconnect the battery, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 04.01.2A fault code from the TRANS module. Test drive to ensure smooth shifting and proper speedometer function.
