Massey Ferguson 04.01.2C – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Steering Column Forward/Reverse Drive Lever Issue

This code indicates a malfunction or signal failure originating from the power shuttle lever (the forward/reverse directional lever) located on the steering column.    Inspect the steering column forward/reverse lever for physical damage or excessive mechanical wear.

   Examine the wiring harness leading down the steering column from the lever. Look for rub points, pinched wires, or damaged insulation.

   Disconnect the lever's electrical connector and check for corrosion or bent pins. Test the circuit for continuity, open circuits, or shorts to ground/power.

   If a diagnostic tool (like AGCO EDT) is available, monitor the live signal voltage from the forward/reverse lever to see if the transmission controller is registering the physical movements of the lever.

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Access the Switch

   Remove the plastic shrouds/covers surrounding the steering column to expose the base of the forward/reverse lever.

   Unplug the electrical connector linking the power shuttle lever to the main cab harness.

   Unscrew the mounting hardware securing the lever assembly to the steering column and remove the faulty unit.

   Mount the new power shuttle lever into the exact column fitment and secure the fasteners.
