Massey Ferguson 04.01.33 – TRANS: Issue With Message From Speed Lever On Armrest (TRANS)

This code indicates a communication failure or invalid signal being sent from the armrest speed lever (often referred to as the Multipad joystick or transmission control lever) to the transmission controller. The system is unable to read the operator's speed or directional inputs from the armrest lever.

   Inspect the Multipad joystick/speed lever on the armrest for physical damage, sticking buttons, or liquid intrusion.

   Remove the armrest cover and inspect the wiring harness connecting the speed lever to the main cab harness for pinched wires, loose pins, or corrosion.

   Verify the CAN bus continuity between the armrest controller and the TRANS module.

   Test if the tractor can still be shuttled or shifted using the left-hand Power Control lever on the steering column to isolate the fault to the armrest lever.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the armrest.

   Access the Lever

   Remove the retaining screws on the armrest control console to access the underside of the Multipad joystick.

   Disconnect the Joystick

   Unplug the electrical connector at the base of the speed lever.

   Replace the Component

   If wiring tested fine during diagnostics, remove the mounting hardware holding the faulty speed lever in place and install the replacement Multipad joystick.

   Reassemble and Reconnect

   Plug the connector into the new joystick, secure the armrest console, and reconnect the battery.

   Clear Codes & Calibrate

   Use a diagnostic tool or the tractor's Datatronic terminal to clear the 04.01.33 fault code. A transmission/lever calibration may be required upon installing a new control lever.
