Massey Ferguson 04.01.64 – TRANS: Transmission Turbo Clutch Solenoid Voltage Supply Issue

The transmission controller has detected an electrical fault, such as an open circuit, short circuit, or poor connection, in the voltage supply circuit to the Turbo Clutch Solenoid (Y004). If it fails to operate, high pressure cannot build up, and the tractor will not achieve traction or move properly.

   Visually inspect the wiring harness and plug at the Turbo Clutch Solenoid (Y004) for physical damage

   Check inside the connector for contamination, such as water ingress, mud, or dirt

   Test the voltage supply wire from the TRANS module to the solenoid for an open or short circuit

   Verify the internal resistance and continuity of the solenoid coil to ensure it hasn't failed internally

   Locate the Valve

   Find the transmission valve block. The Turbo Clutch Solenoid (Y004) is typically a square-shaped solenoid located near the speed variation valves.

   Disconnect the Harness

   Carefully unplug the wiring harness from the solenoid. Caution: Do not pull by the wires, as they can easily break and exacerbate the voltage supply issue.

   Clean the Contacts

   Spray a high-quality electrical contact cleaner into both the harness plug and the two small pin holes on the solenoid to remove any moisture, dirt, or oxidation.

   Reassemble and Test

   Reconnect the plug securely, ensuring the retaining screws (if applicable) are tight. Turn the key on and check if the 04.01.64 code clears from the dash.

   Part Replacement (If Necessary)

   If cleaning the connector and repairing any broken wires does not restore the voltage supply circuit, or if the solenoid coil is internally shorted, remove the retaining hardware and replace the Turbo Clutch Solenoid valve.
