Issue description
The main controller has lost communication with the transmission actuator over the CAN (Controller Area Network) bus system. When this communication drops, the transmission cannot receive shift commands or report its status, often resulting in a failure to shift, range change issues, or the tractor refusing to move.

Check the cause
Read all fault codes using a specialized diagnostic tool to look for accompanying codes (like 04.01.B1 or 04.01.B2) indicating internal software or range change issues.
Inspect the CAN Bus wiring harness leading to the transmission actuator for chafed wires, moisture ingress, or corroded pins at the actuator connector.
Check system voltage and grounds to ensure the transmission ECU and the actuator are receiving proper voltage.
Run an actuator functional test using diagnostic software to see if the actuator responds to manual commands.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on flat ground, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Repair Wiring (If Applicable)
If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged CAN bus wiring (CAN High / CAN Low wires) or a corroded connector at the transmission actuator, repair the wiring harness or replace the pigtail connector. Clear the codes and test operation.
Replace the Transmission Actuator
If the wiring is intact but the actuator fails to communicate or pass functional tests, the actuator's internal module has likely failed. Remove the mounting hardware securing the actuator to the transmission block, disconnect the CAN-bus connector, and install the new actuator.
Perform Transmission Calibration
After replacing the actuator or repairing the CAN bus, the transmission must be recalibrated. Warm the transmission oil to between 35°C (95°F) and 45°C (113°F). Use the tractor's diagnostic screen or a diagnostic tool to run the transmission/clutch calibration procedure so the ECU can learn the new actuator's engagement points.
Clear Codes and Test
Clear the 04.01.B0 code from the TRANS module and test drive the tractor through all ranges to ensure smooth shifting.
