   Verify the voltage supply to the transmission module, ensuring the alternator and voltage regulator are functioning properly and inspecting fuses.

   Check the CAN BUS wiring harnesses for damage or corrosion between the transmission actuator and the controller.

   Connect a specialized Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to retrieve DTCs and check the current software version on the Transmission Control Module for available updates.

   Clear and Retest

   Use the diagnostic tool to clear the 04.01.EA code and operate the tractor to see if the code is an active hard fault or an intermittent glitch.

   Software Reflash

   Reflash or update the Transmission Control Module's software using the OEM diagnostic software.

   Module Replacement

   If the software update fails, the module will not accept the flash, or the code immediately returns, the internal memory/processor of the Transmission Control Unit (TCU) is likely bricked or physically damaged and the TCU must be replaced.

   Recalibration

   After flashing or replacing the module, perform a full transmission calibration (drive pedal, clutch pedal, and turbo clutch calibration), as software resets often trigger subsequent calibration codes.
