Massey Ferguson 04.01.F1 – TRANS: Transmission Calibration Issue (TRANS)

The transmission control system has lost its calibration parameters, or the current calibration is out of specification, which can cause jerky shifting or erratic shuttle behavior.

   Ensure the tractor is parked on completely flat ground

   Verify transmission oil temperature is strictly between 35°C (95°F) and 45°C (113°F) via the Dash Control Center on diagnostic screen 1

   If fluid is cold, warm up the tractor through normal operation and engage the PTO to help heat the transmission

   Activate the PowerShuttle (forward and reverse) 10 times in each direction for 5 to 10 seconds to prime components and warm up control units and solenoid valves

   Configure the PowerShuttle progressivity settings (forward engagement, reverse engagement, and ratio shifting sensitivity) all to '0' on the left-hand dash screen

   Prepare tractor for calibration

   With the tractor on flat ground, disengage the PTO, place the transmission in neutral, and release the parking brake.

   Raise engine speed

   Raise the engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM.

   Lift PowerShuttle arm

   Lift the PowerShuttle arm (located to the left of the steering wheel) to the raised position and hold it there.

   Hold differential lock switch

   Simultaneously press and hold the differential lock switch. Hold both for approximately 10 seconds until the right-hand transmission gear screen displays 'Ct'.

   Begin calibration sequence

   Once 'Ct' is displayed, push the PowerShuttle arm into the forward position to begin the calibration sequence.

   Wait for calibration

   The calibration will take approximately 10 minutes. The screen will continuously display 'Ct', and it is completely normal to hear the transmission shifting and making mechanical noises during this time.

   Verify calibration completion

   When the calibration finishes, the right-hand screen will display the transmission ratio you were in before starting (e.g., '1A/2A' or '1E/2E').

   Save settings

   Place the PowerShuttle back into the neutral position, disengage the differential lock, idle the tractor down, and turn the engine off to confirm and save the new parameters.

   Test drive

   Restart the tractor and test drive it using a variety of maneuvers (forward to reverse, neutral to forward, etc.) to validate that the shifting is now smooth.
