Massey Ferguson 04.02.06 – TRANS: Issue With Signal Voltage From Foot Throttle Sensor (TRANS)

The controller is receiving a voltage signal from the foot throttle pedal sensor (often designated as sensor X71 or B055) that is outside the expected operating range (typically between 0.5V and 4.5V). If the voltage drops below the minimum threshold or exceeds the maximum threshold, the controller flags this code and will typically default to a limited RPM mode or inhibit throttle requests to protect the machine.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the 6-way connector at the foot throttle pedal for rub points, damaged wires, or loose pins

   Verify that the sensor is receiving its 5V reference supply and has a solid ground from the controller

   Check the signal wire for an open circuit, a short to ground, or a short to power (which causes voltage to peg at 0V or 5V)

   Perform a sensor sweep test by monitoring the live voltage output while slowly pressing the pedal to ensure smooth scaling without dropouts or spikes

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery

   This prevents electrical spikes.

   Locate the foot throttle pedal assembly

   Locate the assembly inside the cab.

   Disconnect the electrical harness connector

   Disconnect it from the throttle pedal sensor.

   Remove the faulty sensor

   Remove the mounting hardware securing the sensor to the pedal assembly and remove the faulty unit.

   Install the new sensor

   Install the new sensor and secure it.

   Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery

   Perform a calibration of the throttle pedal sensor

   This allows the controller to learn the new physical end-stops (idle and full throttle voltages). This is typically done via the tractor's dashboard diagnostic menu or using the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT).
