Issue description

This fault indicates a malfunction within the tractor's continuously variable transmission (Dyna-VT) hydraulic control system. The turbo clutch solenoid valve (often designated as the TK valve or Y004 in AGCO/Fendt Vario transmissions) is responsible for opening and closing the high-pressure circuit to the hydraulic tank. When the transmission controller commands this solenoid to activate, the hydraulic pressure is expected to drop. If the pressure does not drop, it typically means the solenoid valve is mechanically jammed closed, there is an electrical short causing the valve to remain energized externally, or the transmission pressure sensor is providing a false reading.

Check the cause

  1. Electrical Testing: Inspect the wiring harness and connector leading to the turbo clutch solenoid (Y004). Look for rubbed wires that could be causing a short to power (external energizing), which would keep the valve closed when it shouldn't be.

  2. Sensor Verification: Use the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to monitor the live data from the transmission high-pressure sensor. Verify if the sensor reading is stuck or if it accurately reflects line pressure.

  3. Mechanical Inspection: If the wiring and sensors are functioning correctly, the issue is likely a mechanically jammed solenoid valve. Remove the solenoid to check for debris, metal shavings, or a stuck internal spool.

Repair steps

  1. Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

    Allow the transmission fluid to cool and relieve any residual hydraulic pressure.

  2. Thoroughly clean the exterior of the transmission valve block where the turbo clutch solenoid is located.

    This prevents dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the turbo clutch solenoid valve.

  4. Unbolt and carefully extract the solenoid valve from the transmission valve block.

  5. Inspect the valve block bore for any scoring or contamination.

    Clean the port using a lint-free cloth.

  6. Lubricate the O-rings on the new OEM turbo clutch solenoid valve.

    Use clean transmission hydraulic fluid.

  7. Insert the new solenoid valve into the block and torque the retaining bolts.

    Torque to the manufacturer's specification.

  8. Reconnect the electrical harness.

  9. Connect the AGCO diagnostic tool and clear the 04.02.46 fault code.

    Perform a clutch pedal/turbo-clutch calibration if required by the software.

  10. Test drive the tractor.

    Ensure the transmission operates smoothly and the fault code does not return.
