Issue description

Indicates a signal error or electrical fault originating from the transmission filter blockage switch/sensor. Check the cause

  1. Check the transmission/hydraulic filter and oil condition for severe clogs or heavy contamination (e.g., metal filings from brake disc wear) which can cause erratic sensor behavior.

  2. Inspect the transmission filter blockage sensor electrical connector for dirt, corrosion, or loose pins.

  3. Test the sensor circuit with a multimeter for continuity, verify it is receiving the correct reference voltage from the TRANS module, and check for shorts to ground or open circuits in the wiring harness.

  4. Test the sensor itself for internal failure if the wiring is intact.

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

    Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, turn off the engine, and relieve any residual hydraulic pressure.

  2. Clean the Area

    Thoroughly clean the area around the transmission filter housing and the blockage sensor to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

  3. Disconnect the Battery

    Disconnect the negative battery terminal to protect the TRANS module from electrical spikes during replacement.

  4. Replace the Filter (If due for service)

    If the transmission oil filter hasn't been changed recently, drain the fluid from the filter housing and replace the transmission filter element.

  5. Remove the Faulty Sensor

    Unplug the electrical connector from the transmission filter blockage sensor. Use a wrench to carefully unthread the sensor from the filter housing/gearbox. Have a catch pan ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid may leak out.

  6. Install the New Sensor

    Thread the new OEM sensor into the port. Tighten to the manufacturer's specified torque (do not overtighten, as this can damage the sensor threads or housing).

  7. Reconnect Wiring

    Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor, ensuring it clicks securely into place.

  8. Refill and Test

    Top off the transmission/hydraulic fluid to the correct level. Reconnect the battery, start the tractor, and allow it to reach operating temperature. Verify that the 04.02.56 fault code has cleared and no warning lights remain on the dash.
