Massey Ferguson 04.02.B0 – TRANS: Issue With Transmission Actuator Communication On CAN BUS (TRANS)
Issue description
This code indicates a communication failure over the CAN (Controller Area Network) bus network. The system has lost communication with the transmission actuator, which can happen if the CAN bus wiring is damaged, connectors are faulty, or the actuator module itself has suffered an internal malfunction and stopped transmitting data.

Check the cause
Inspect the CAN bus wiring harness and connectors running to the transmission actuator and the Transmission ECU for chafing, breaks, or corrosion.
Verify the integrity of the CAN bus terminators located near the transmission ECU and transmission actuator.
Verify power and ground to ensure the transmission actuator is receiving proper operating voltage. A blown fuse or bad ground can cause the module to drop off the CAN network.
Check for related codes (e.g., 'CAN Bus Off' or 'Time out' codes) that might indicate a broader network short rather than an isolated actuator failure.
Repair steps
Repair Wiring
If diagnostic testing reveals damaged connectors or CAN bus wiring, repair or replace the affected harness sections.
Replace the Actuator
If the wiring is intact and the actuator has an internal malfunction preventing CAN communication, remove and replace the Transmission Actuator.
Recalibrate the Transmission
After replacing the transmission actuator or repairing the communication lines, complete all required transmission and shift calibrations using the dealer diagnostic tool (e.g., ServiceMaster/FENDIAS) to ensure proper operation.
Parts you might need
(2)Transmission Actuator / Transmission Actuator Solenoid Valve
Ensure genuine Massey Ferguson parts are used, as fitting non-genuine parts can compromise tractor safety and transmission calibration.
