Massey Ferguson 04.02.EF – Transmission Control Module (TRANS / TCU): Transmission Turbo Clutch Calibration Issue (TRANS)
Issue description
This code indicates that the transmission's turbo clutch has either lost its calibration parameters, failed a recent calibration attempt, or is experiencing an internal software/hardware issue preventing proper clutch engagement and progressivity.

Check the cause
Ensure the tractor is parked on completely flat ground
Verify transmission oil temperature is between 35°C (95°F) and 45°C (113°F) on the Dash Control Center (diagnostic screen 1)
Perform warm-up procedure if cold: engage PTO and activate PowerShuttle forward and reverse 10 times in each direction for 5–10 seconds
Configure the PowerShuttle progressivity settings (forward engagement, reverse engagement, and ratio shifting sensitivity) all to '0' on the left-hand dash screen
Repair steps
Prepare for calibration
With the tractor on flat ground and properly warmed up, disengage the PTO, place the transmission in neutral, and release the park brake.
Raise engine speed
Raise the engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM.
Engage calibration controls
Raise the PowerShuttle arm to the 'raised' position (located to the left of the steering wheel) and hold it there while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch.
Hold controls
Hold both controls for approximately 10 seconds until the right-hand screen on the dash (the transmission gear screen) displays 'Ct'.
Begin calibration
Once 'Ct' is displayed, the tractor is ready. Place the PowerShuttle arm into the forward position to begin the calibration.
Wait for calibration to complete
The calibration will take approximately 10 minutes. The screen will continuously show 'Ct', and it is completely normal to hear the transmission shifting and making noises during this time.
Verify completion
Once the calibration is complete, the right-hand screen will display the transmission ratio you were in before starting (e.g., '1A/2A' or '1E/2E').
Save the Settings
Place the PowerShuttle into the neutral position, disengage the differential lock, idle the tractor down, and switch the engine off to confirm and save the new changes.
Validation
Restart the tractor and drive it back and forth. Test a variety of maneuvers (forward to reverse, neutral to forward, etc.) to ensure the transmission shifting is smooth and the fault code has cleared.
