Massey Ferguson 04.03.04 – TRANS (Transmission Module): Issue With Signal Voltage From Clutch Pedal Sensor

The control module is receiving an irregular, out-of-range, or missing electrical voltage signal from the clutch pedal position sensor (often referred to as the clutch pedal safety switch or bottom-of-clutch switch).

   Verify the tractor's battery voltage using a multimeter. It should read around 12.6V.

   Locate the clutch pedal sensor near the clutch pedal pivot, press the clutch pedal, and listen for an audible click to verify physical switch adjustment.

   Inspect the sensor's wiring harness for moisture, dirt intrusion, or rubbed wires that could cause an open circuit or a short.

   Back-probe the sensor connector with a multimeter to ensure the voltage toggles cleanly (e.g., from 0V to 12V/14V) when the pedal is depressed.

   Access the Sensor

   Locate the faulty clutch pedal switch situated in the pedal box under the dashboard.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the wiring harness connector from the sensor.

   Remove

   Unbolt or unclip the old sensor from its mounting bracket.

   Install

   Mount the new replacement switch. Ensure it is positioned correctly so that the pedal mechanism engages it fully when depressed.

   Reconnect

   Plug the wiring harness back into the new sensor (OEM replacements are direct plug-in with no wiring modifications needed).

   Calibrate

   After replacing the sensor, perform a clutch calibration procedure via the tractor's dash or diagnostic tool to resolve any harsh or jumpy clutch engagement issues.
