Massey Ferguson 04.03.07 – Transmission Control Module (TRANS) / Autotronic 4: Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 Signal Voltage Issue (TRANS)

Issue description

The transmission control unit is receiving an abnormal electrical voltage signal (either too high, too low, or missing) from the transmission's high-pressure sensor 2.

Applies to these machines

  • 7714
  • 7715
  • 7715S
  • 7716

  • Tier 4 (2015-2021)

Check the cause

  1. Check transmission fluid levels and quality, as low, overfilled, or dirty fluid can cause erratic pressure readings

  2. Inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission high-pressure sensor for rub points, damage, corrosion, open circuits, or shorts to ground/power

  3. Disconnect the sensor and check the connector pins for moisture, dirt, or bent pins

  4. Using a multimeter, verify that the sensor is receiving the correct reference voltage from the TCM and check the return signal voltage

Repair steps

  1. Locate

Locate the transmission high-pressure sensor (8-bar pressure switch) threaded directly into the transmission housing.

  2. Replace

Remove the faulty sensor and install the replacement, ensuring standard electrical connections plug securely into the existing harness.

  3. Prepare

Ensure calibration prerequisites are met: Hand brake must be applied or ParkLock engaged, Power Control lever must be in the neutral position, and High/low speed range must be in neutral.

  4. Calibrate

Perform a mandatory Transmission Calibration procedure systematically via the tractor's interface.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Transmission High Pressure Sensor / 8-Bar Transmission Oil Pressure Switch

Specific to the MF 6600, 7600, and 7700 series transmission housings. Ensure the replacement sensor is rated for the correct pressure threshold (8-bar) and is sealed to withstand diesel engine heat cycles and hydraulic fluid exposure.
