Massey Ferguson 04.03.0F – Transmission Controller / Module (TRANS1): Reverse Clutch Solenoid Amp Draw Issue
Issue description
The transmission controller is measuring the electrical current (amp draw) from the reverse clutch solenoid circuit and has detected that it is lower than the expected limit. This condition typically points to an open circuit, a short to ground, or a loss of power supply to the solenoid.

Check the cause
Verify that the reverse clutch solenoid is receiving 12 volts when the reverse shuttle/pedal is engaged.
Trace the wiring from the TRANS1 module to the reverse clutch solenoid. Look for rubbed-through wires causing a short to ground, or broken wires causing an open circuit.
Disconnect the solenoid and check the electrical connector pins for corrosion, pushed-out pins, or moisture ingress.
Use a multimeter to test the resistance across the solenoid pins. If the internal coil is burnt out (open) or shorted, the amp draw will fall outside the acceptable parameters.
Repair steps
Secure the Machine
Park the tractor on a flat surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the transmission control valve block (usually mounted on the side of the transmission housing) and identify the reverse clutch solenoid.
Disconnect and Remove
Unplug the electrical connector from the solenoid. Clean the area around the valve to prevent dirt from entering the transmission. Unbolt or unscrew the faulty solenoid from the valve block.
Install the New Solenoid
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid. Install the new solenoid into the valve block and tighten to the OEM torque specification.
Reconnect Wiring
Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks and locks securely.
Clear Codes and Calibrate
Turn the key on and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 04.03.0F fault code. Because a transmission clutch component was replaced, you will likely need to perform a transmission/clutch calibration procedure (often done via the tractor's dash screen or diagnostic software) to ensure smooth shifting and engagement.
