Massey Ferguson 04.03.15 – TRANS2: Transmission Pressure Switch Open When Engine Is Running

The transmission controller is detecting an open electrical circuit from the transmission oil pressure switch while the engine is active. This condition alerts the operator that the transmission oil pressure has dropped below the safe operating threshold (typically 8 bar) or that there is an electrical fault (such as a failed switch, disconnected wire, or damaged harness) preventing the sensor from reading the pressure.

   Verify the transmission hydraulic fluid level and condition, as low fluid can cause a genuine drop in pressure.

   Inspect the electrical connector and wiring harness leading to the transmission pressure switch for corrosion, loose connections, or broken wires that would cause an open circuit reading.

   Hook up a mechanical hydraulic pressure gauge to the transmission test port to verify pressure is above the 8-bar threshold. If mechanical pressure is low, diagnose the hydraulic issue (e.g., failing pump, clogged filter, or internal leak). If mechanical pressure is normal, the pressure switch or its wiring is faulty.

   Locate the Switch

   Find the transmission oil pressure switch, which threads directly into the transmission housing.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the switch to prevent dirt or debris from entering the transmission housing when the sensor is removed.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical harness connector from the switch.

   Remove

   Unscrew the faulty pressure switch from the transmission housing.

   Install

   Thread the new 8-bar pressure switch into the housing and tighten it to the manufacturer's specifications.

   Reconnect

   Plug the tractor's electrical harness back into the new switch.

   Test

   Start the engine. Verify that the dashboard warning lights and the 04.03.15 fault code have cleared, and check the new switch for any hydraulic fluid leaks.
