Massey Ferguson 04.03.48 – TRANS: Transmission Range Has Not Moved To Neutral (TRANS)
Issue description
The transmission controller commanded a shift to neutral, but the range sensor failed to detect that the transmission actually reached the neutral position.

Check the cause
Perform diagnostic tests on the transmission sensors using Wintest software before attempting to replace any parts (required for warranty claims)
Monitor the live state of the transmission range switch/sensor to see if it is physically stuck, out of calibration, or suffering from a wiring/voltage drop issue
Repair steps
Connect diagnostic software
Connect the tractor to the Massey Ferguson Wintest diagnostic software.
Clear DTCs and cycle transmission
Clear the stored DTCs (04.03.48) and cycle the transmission through its ranges to see if the code is active or stored.
Monitor sensors and solenoids
Monitor the transmission range sensor and forward/reverse solenoids via the software.
Inspect wiring harness
If the software confirms the sensor is unresponsive or reading out of range, inspect the wiring harness leading to the transmission control sensor for breaks or corrosion.
Replace faulty component
If the wiring is intact, replace the Transmission Range Switch / Control Sensor or the Forward/Reverse Solenoid (depending on which component failed the Wintest diagnostic).
Recalibrate transmission
Recalibrate the transmission using the Wintest software to ensure the new sensor accurately reads the neutral position.
