Massey Ferguson 04.03.70 – TRANS: Cruise Speed C1 Button Issue (TRANS)
Issue description
The onboard diagnostic (OBD) system has detected an irregularity, malfunction, or loss of signal from the "C1" button. This button is located on the tractor's multifunction joystick (or multipad) and is used by the operator to engage or switch to the "C1" cruise control speed.

Check the cause
Inspect the C1 button on the multifunction joystick for physical damage, sticking, or lack of tactile feedback. A collapsed or jammed button spring is a common mechanical failure.
Inspect the wiring harness exiting the base of the joystick and routing through the armrest. Look for pinched wires or loose connector pins that could interrupt the signal to the Transmission module.
Use a specialized Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the DTC. Cycle the tractor's ignition and press the C1 button to see if the code returns immediately (indicating a hard electrical fault like an open/short) or intermittently.
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts while working on the armrest console.
Access the Joystick
Remove the retaining screws on the right-hand armrest console to access the underside of the multifunction joystick.
Button Replacement (If applicable)
If your joystick allows for individual button replacement, carefully pry the faulty C1 button from its housing. Disconnect the micro-switch wiring, connect the new push button (e.g., Part # 600247), and snap it back into the joystick faceplate.
Assembly Replacement (If applicable)
If the entire joystick is worn or the button cannot be serviced separately, disconnect the main electrical harness connector at the base of the joystick. Unbolt the joystick assembly from the armrest and install the new unit (e.g., Part # 600109).
Reassembly
Secure the joystick, reassemble the armrest console, and reconnect the battery.
Calibration/Testing
Turn the tractor on, clear the 04.03.70 fault code using a diagnostic tool, and test the C1 cruise speed function during operation to verify the repair.
