Massey Ferguson 04.03.ED – TRANS: Clutch Pedal Not Calibrated (TRANS)

The transmission control module has lost the calibration values for the clutch pedal potentiometer (sensor), or the sensor is reading outside of its previously learned 0% (fully released) and 100% (fully depressed) stroke parameters.

   Inspect the clutch pedal potentiometer (located on the pedal assembly) for physical damage, loose mounting screws, or a disconnected wiring harness

   Ensure the clutch pedal mechanism moves freely without binding and that no debris is preventing it from reaching the top or bottom of its stroke

   Verify transmission oil is up to operating temperature (typically above 50°C / 122°F, or between 35°C-45°C depending on the exact model year) before attempting calibration

   Prepare tractor for calibration

   Park the tractor on flat ground, engage the handbrake, place the shuttle lever in Neutral, and ensure the PTO is disengaged.

   Warm up transmission

   Warm up the transmission gear oil to at least 50°C (can be aided by engaging the PTO while parked).

   Idle engine

   Leave the engine running at idle.

   Access service menu

   Enter the dashboard service menu (usually by holding the 'A' or main menu button on the dash).

   Select calibration

   Use the arrow buttons to navigate to the CALIBRATION menu, then select Clutch Pedal Calibration.

   Perform calibration

   Follow the on-screen prompts. You will typically be asked to leave the pedal fully up and confirm, then press the pedal fully down to the floor and confirm.

   Verify calibration success

   If successful, the display will show 'OK'. If the display throws a 'U' code or fails to calibrate, the potentiometer is faulty and must be replaced.

   Disconnect battery

   Disconnect the battery before beginning sensor replacement.

   Unplug sensor

   Unplug the wiring harness from the clutch pedal potentiometer.

    Remove old sensor

    Remove the mounting screws and remove the old sensor.

    Install new sensor

    Install the new sensor, ensuring the mechanical linkage/tang aligns correctly with the pedal pivot.

    Reconnect battery and calibrate

    Reconnect the battery and perform the calibration procedure outlined above to teach the TRANS module the new sensor's limits.
