Massey Ferguson 04.03.F1 – TRANS: Transmission Calibration Issue
Issue description
The transmission control system has detected an irregularity, failure, or out-of-bounds parameter during the transmission calibration process, or that the transmission requires a recalibration due to a loss of memory, thermal imbalance, or a recently replaced component.

Check the cause
Ensure the transmission fluid is up to operating temperature by repeatedly cycling the Power Shuttle lever before commencing calibration to prevent inaccuracies due to thermal imbalance.
Verify that the differential lock and front axle (4WD) are completely disengaged, as they will interfere with the calibration process.
Check for other active fault codes related to the clutch pedal sensor or transmission speed sensors.
Test the range position sensors and inductive speed sensors using AGCO's Wintest software or a multimeter (voltage should toggle between 0V and 14V when ranges are activated or the sensor ball is pressed) before condemning them.
Repair steps
Park the tractor on flat, level ground.

Set the engine speed to 1500 RPM.
Set the engine speed to 1500 RPM (± 100 RPM) using the hand throttle or memorized speed.
Pull and hold the Power Shuttle arm and press the differential lock switch.
Pull and hold the Power Shuttle arm in the raised position while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch. Hold them for approximately 3 to 10 seconds.
Watch the right-hand screen and release controls.
Watch the right-hand screen on the dash (the transmission gear screen). Release the controls when the screen displays 'Ct' (Calibration mode).
Place the Power Shuttle arm into the forward position.
Place the Power Shuttle arm into the forward position to begin the calibration sequence.
Allow the tractor to automatically shift through the gears.
The tractor will automatically shift through the gears. The screen will continuously show 'Ct'. This process takes approximately 10 minutes. Note: It is completely normal to hear the transmission shifting and making hydraulic noises during this time.
Wait for calibration to complete.
Once calibration is complete, the right-hand screen will display the transmission ratio you were in before starting (e.g., '1A/2A').
Save the new settings.
To save the new settings, place the Power Shuttle into the neutral position, ensure the differential lock is disengaged, idle the tractor down, and switch the engine off.
Restart the tractor and validate the settings.
Restart the tractor and validate the settings by driving back and forth using a variety of maneuvers (forward to reverse, neutral to forward, etc.) to ensure shifting is smooth.
