Massey Ferguson 04.1.13 – Transmission Module (TRANS or TRANS1): Reverse Clutch Solenoid Open Circuit
Issue description
The transmission controller measures the current draw from the reverse clutch solenoid circuit. If the current draw falls below a specified limit, the controller determines that the circuit is open, shorted to ground, or has lost its power supply.

Check the cause
Ensure the tractor is safely parked, wheels are blocked, and the machine cannot move during testing.
Inspect the wiring harness integrated into the gearbox for any visible damage, cuts, or chafing that could cause an open circuit or a short to ground.
Locate the reverse clutch solenoid valve connector and check that the pins are not disconnected, bent, rusty, or corroded.
Verify the power supply to the solenoid by checking if the reverse clutch solenoid is being energized by the controller when the reverse mode is selected.
Test the circuit for continuity from the Transmission Module (TRANS) to the solenoid to confirm if the wiring is open before condemning the solenoid valve itself.

Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid to prevent dirt from entering the transmission hydraulic system.

Disconnect the electrical connector from the faulty solenoid.

Remove the retaining hardware (screws/bolts) holding the reverse clutch solenoid in place.

Extract the faulty solenoid valve from the transmission block.

Lubricate the O-rings on the new OEM solenoid valve with clean transmission fluid.
