Massey Ferguson 04.1.85 – Transmission Control Module: Engine speed sensor I plausibility error

The system logs this code when the engine speed sensor (B010 or X25) fails to supply plausible speed curves, or when the output speed increase/decrease falls outside of pre-established limits, forcing the transmission into emergency mode.

   Connect a diagnostic tool and monitor live data from the engine speed sensor (X25/B010) for erratic readings, signal dropouts, or a complete lack of RPM data.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the engine speed sensor and the transmission control module for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Remove the sensor from the bell housing and inspect the magnetic tip for metal shavings or clutch debris that could distort the magnetic signal.

   Use a multimeter or oscilloscope to back-probe the sensor connector, verifying proper reference voltage and a clean, consistent signal curve.

   Park the tractor on a level surface, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

   Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the engine speed sensor (B010 / X25) on the engine/transmission bell housing.

   Depress the locking tab and disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor.
