Massey Ferguson 04.1.ED – Transmission Control Module (TRANS): Issue With Top Of Clutch Pedal Switch Or The operator Is Ridding The Clutch Pedal

The clutch pedal sensor (often designated as sensor B017) has drifted, lost its calibration, or is registering changed values. The system cannot determine if the sensor is out of calibration or if the operator is simply resting their foot on the pedal ("riding the clutch"), which keeps the switch partially engaged.

   Confirm that the operator is not resting their foot on the clutch pedal during operation. Clear the code and test the machine to see if the code returns under proper operation.

   Inspect the clutch pedal switch/sensor (located at the top of the clutch pedal assembly) for physical damage, loose mounting brackets, or debris preventing the pedal from returning fully to the top position.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connector going to the clutch pedal sensor for broken wires, corrosion, or short circuits.

   Use a diagnostic tool (such as the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool or Massey Ferguson WinTest) to check the live values of the clutch pedal sensor. If the values are drifting or out of range, a recalibration is required.

   Recalibrate the sensor

   Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT). Navigate to the transmission module and perform a clutch pedal calibration procedure.

   Test the machine

   If the calibration is successful, test drive the tractor to ensure the code does not return.

   Replace the sensor

   If the sensor fails to calibrate, or if the live data shows erratic voltage/resistance sweeps when the pedal is depressed, the sensor/switch is faulty and must be replaced.

   Post-replacement calibration

   If the clutch pedal sensor is replaced, the new sensor MUST be calibrated using the diagnostic tool to compensate for mechanical and electrical tolerances. If you do not calibrate the new sensor, the code will persist.
