Massey Ferguson 04.1.FF – Transmission Module (TRANS): Issue With Transmission Module Calibrations Or Parameters
Issue description
The transmission controller has lost its calibration data, the parameters are out of range, or there is an internal software/hardware fault within the module itself.

Check the cause
Check transmission oil temperature via the diagnostic screen (must be between 35°C and 45°C).
Cycle the PowerShuttle lever 10 times in each direction for 5-10 seconds to bring the control unit and solenoid valves up to operating temperature.
Check PowerShuttle progressivity settings on the dash screen and configure forward engagement, reverse engagement, and ratio shifting sensitivity all to '0'.
Ensure the differential lock and front axle (4WD) are completely disengaged to prevent interference with calibration.
Repair steps
Prepare tractor for calibration
Position the tractor on flat ground, disengage the PTO, place the tractor in neutral, and release the parking brake.
Adjust engine speed
Raise the engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM (± 100 RPM) using the hand throttle.
Initiate calibration mode
Raise the PowerShuttle arm (located to the left of the steering wheel) to the raised position and hold it there while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch.
Hold controls
Hold both for at least 3 to 10 seconds until the right-hand transmission gear screen displays "Ct" (Calibration mode).
Start calibration
Once "Ct" is displayed, place the PowerShuttle arm into the forward position to begin the calibration.
Wait for calibration to complete
The calibration process will take approximately 10 minutes. It is normal to hear the transmission shifting and making noises during this time.
Verify completion
When complete, the screen will display the transmission ratio you were in before starting (e.g., "1A/2A" or "1E/2E").
Save parameters
To save the new parameters, place the PowerShuttle into neutral, disengage the differential lock, idle the tractor down, and turn the engine off.
Test drive
Restart the tractor and test drive it using a variety of maneuvers (forward to reverse, neutral to forward, etc.) to validate smooth shifting.
Replace Transmission Control Module
If the calibration fails repeatedly or the code immediately returns, the Transmission Control Module has suffered an internal hardware failure and must be replaced.
