Massey Ferguson 04.2.0E – Transmission Module (TRANS or TRANS1): Forward Clutch Solenoid Amp Draw Issue

Issue description

The control module has detected an electrical current (amperage) anomaly in the circuit responsible for operating the forward clutch solenoid. The current is either too low or outside the expected parameters, which typically points to an open circuit, high resistance in the wiring, or a failing solenoid coil.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness running from the Transmission Module (TRANS) to the forward clutch solenoid on the transmission valve block for chafed wires, corrosion, or loose connector pins.

  2. Use a multimeter to test the circuit for continuity and ensure there are no shorts to ground or power.

  3. Measure the internal resistance of the forward clutch solenoid coil to check for an internal break (infinite resistance).

  4. Verify that the transmission module is sending the correct supply voltage to the solenoid when forward gear is commanded.
