Massey Ferguson 04.2.ED – Transmission Module (TRANS): Issue With Top Of Clutch Pedal Switch Or The operator Is Ridding The Clutch Pedal

This code triggers when the system detects that the clutch pedal is slightly depressed for an extended period. This can be caused by a physical hardware failure (a faulty or misadjusted Top Of Clutch/TOC switch) or by operator error (resting a foot on the clutch pedal while driving).

   Verify operator habits to ensure they are not resting their foot on the clutch pedal ('riding the clutch') during operation, as this directly triggers the code.

   Locate the Top Of Clutch (TOC) switch in the pedal box and check its physical adjustment to ensure it fully engages and disengages when the pedal is pressed and released.

   Check the wiring harness and connectors for the clutch pedal sensor for open circuits, short circuits to +12V, or a switch that is physically stuck open.

   Access the Pedal Box

   Locate the clutch pedal box assembly inside the cab.

   Remove the Faulty Switch

   Disconnect the electrical harness from the Top Of Clutch switch and unbolt/unclip it from its mounting bracket.

   Install the New Switch

   Fit the replacement switch and ensure it is properly adjusted against the pedal mechanism.

   Test the System

   Once the switch has been replaced, the problem is usually solved without the need for any additional programming or calibration.
