Massey Ferguson 04.X.05 – TRANS: Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 Signal Voltage Issue
Issue description
The Transmission Control Module is receiving an inconsistent or out-of-range signal voltage from Transmission Oil High Pressure Sensor 2 (X34), most commonly caused by an 8.5 V supply error, a short/open circuit in the wiring, or an internal failure of the sensor itself.

Check the cause
Verify that the sensor is receiving its required 8.5V supply voltage from the transmission module using a multimeter.
Inspect the wiring and connector at Sensor 2 (Component X34) for corrosion, loose pins, or wire chafing that could cause a short to ground or an open circuit.
Perform a swap test by exchanging Sensor 1 (X9) and Sensor 2 (X34). If the fault code changes to 04.X.07 / T4107, the sensor is faulty. If the code remains 04.X.05, the issue is in the wiring harness or the transmission control module.
Repair steps
Preparation
Ensure the tractor is parked on a level surface with the engine off. Relieve any residual hydraulic pressure.
Removal
Locate Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 (X34) on the transmission housing. Disconnect the electrical connector and unscrew the sensor.
Installation
Thread the new sensor into the port and tighten to the OEM torque specification. Reconnect the electrical harness.
Mandatory Calibration
A transmission calibration procedure MUST be carried out systematically after changing the transmission high pressure sensor. Preliminary conditions: hand brake applied (or ParkLock engaged), Power Control lever in neutral, and High/Low speed range (Hare/Tortoise) in neutral.
Clear Codes
Clear the DTCs from the dashboard/control center and test drive the tractor to ensure the transmission shifts correctly and the code does not return.
