Massey Ferguson 04.X.07 – Transmission Control Module (TRANS): Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 Signal Voltage Issue

The transmission controller is receiving an abnormal electrical signal (voltage out of the expected range, such as a short circuit, open circuit, or supply voltage error) from the second high-pressure sensor located on the transmission's hydrostatic/hydraulic circuit.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2 for chafing, melting, or rodent damage.

   Disconnect the sensor and check for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins inside the connector.

   Check the reference voltage supplied to the sensor by the transmission module (often an 8.5V supply circuit) and verify that the signal wire is not shorted to ground or shorted to power.

   Ensure transmission/hydraulic oil levels are correct and the filters are not restricted, as severe mechanical pressure issues can sometimes trigger out-of-range electrical faults.

   Preparation

   Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the hand brake (or ParkLock), and disconnect the battery. Clean the area around the sensor on the transmission housing to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system.

   Removal

   Unplug the electrical connector from Transmission High Pressure Sensor 2. Unthread the sensor from the transmission block. Have a rag ready to catch residual hydraulic fluid.

   Installation

   Thread the new OEM pressure sensor into the port and tighten to the manufacturer's torque specification. Reconnect the electrical harness.

   Mandatory Calibration

   A transmission calibration procedure must be carried out systematically after changing the transmission high pressure sensor. Preliminary conditions for calibration: Hand brake applied/ParkLock engaged, Power Control lever in neutral, and Hare/Tortoise range in neutral. Note: This calibration must be performed immediately after the range calibration is completed via the tractor's terminal.
