04.X.19

Massey Ferguson 04.X.19 – TRANS: Issue With The Stored Values For The Foot Throttle

Issue description

The control module has detected that the stored calibration values (the minimum and maximum voltage limits) for the foot throttle sensor in its EEPROM memory are missing, corrupted, or implausible. This can happen due to a failing throttle potentiometer, a severe low-voltage event (like a dead battery) that wiped the memory, or a sensor outputting voltages outside the acceptable range.

Applies to these machines

  • 7715
  • 7715S
  • 7716
  • 7716S
  • 7718
  • 7718S

  • 7720S
  • 7722
  • 7722S
  • 7724
  • 7724S
  • 7726
  • 7726S
  • Tier 4 (2015-2021)

Check the cause

  1. Attempt to recalibrate the foot throttle via the dashboard diagnostic menu or AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to restore wiped memory values

  2. Verify the sensor's signal voltage using a multimeter or live data scanner (valid range is 0.5V at idle to 4.5V at full throttle)

  3. Inspect the foot throttle sensor's wiring harness and connector for rubbing, corrosion, or loose pins causing intermittent signal loss

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the tractor's battery to ensure safety and prevent short circuits.

  2. Access the Pedal

Locate the foot throttle pedal assembly on the right side of the cab floor/transmission tunnel.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

Unplug the electrical connector from the foot throttle sensor potentiometer.

  4. Remove the Assembly

Remove the mounting bolts securing the foot throttle pedal assembly to the cab floor and remove the old unit.

  5. Install the New Part

Mount the new foot throttle pedal assembly and tighten the bolts.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the electrical connector back into the new sensor and reconnect the battery.

  7. Calibrate the New Sensor

Turn the ignition on and perform the foot throttle calibration procedure using the AGCO EDT software or the specific dashboard sequence. The TRANS module must learn and store the new minimum and maximum values, or the 04.X.19 code will remain active.

  8. Test

Clear the fault codes and test drive the tractor to ensure smooth throttle response.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Foot Throttle Pedal Assembly (includes the electronic sensor)

    3809231M91

Fits Massey Ferguson 7700 and 7700S series tractors. (Note: Older mechanical series use cables and springs, but the 7700 series uses this electronic drive-by-wire pedal assembly).
