Massey Ferguson 04.X.24 – TRANS: Park Lock Switch On Steering Column Direction Lever, Signal Issue

The controller is receiving an erratic, missing, or out-of-range electrical signal from the park lock switch, which is integrated into the forward/reverse power shuttle lever on the steering column. When this signal fails, the tractor may struggle to recognize whether the park lock is engaged or disengaged, potentially preventing movement or causing jerky transmission responses.

   Remove the steering column covers and inspect the wiring harness leading to the power shuttle lever for chafed wires, pinched lines, or damaged insulation.

   Disconnect the plug at the shuttle lever and inspect the internal pins for corrosion, moisture, or pushed-back terminals. Ensure the connector seats tightly.

   Using a multimeter, verify the voltage and continuity of the park lock switch circuit while physically moving the lever in and out of the park position to check for internal contact failure.

   Verify the main transmission harness connections leading back to the TRANS controller to ensure the signal isn't being lost downstream.

   Disconnect Power

   Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent short circuits and protect the TRANS module.

   Access the Lever

   Remove the plastic steering column console covers to expose the base of the power shuttle lever.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Unplug the electrical connector from the base of the direction lever assembly.

   Remove the Lever

   Unbolt the mounting hardware securing the power shuttle lever to the steering column and remove the old unit.

   Install the New Part

   Mount the new Genuine AGCO power shuttle lever into the exact column fitment and tighten the hardware.

   Reconnect and Reassemble

   Plug the electrical connector back in, ensuring it clicks into place. Reinstall the steering column covers.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 04.X.24 DTC from the transmission controller. Test the tractor to ensure smooth forward/reverse shifting and proper park lock engagement.
