Check the cause
Check for related fault codes (such as D 137, D 138, or D 158) that point to the exact electrical failure or calibration issue of the X106 lever
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the X106 armrest lever and the Transmission Controller for shorts to ground (0V), shorts to 12V, or open circuits
Check for Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) from high-power electrical devices (like two-way radios or cell phones) that can cause electronic interference on speed sensing circuits
Attempt to recalibrate the armrest lever via the tractor's Dash Control Center (DCC) to resolve potential loss of calibration parameters (Code D 158)
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery isolator to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Armrest
Disassemble the upper trim of the Command Control Armrest to expose the internal wiring of the Multipad joystick / transmission speed lever (X106).
Disconnect
Unplug the electrical connector from the base of the speed lever.
Remove
Unscrew the retaining bolts holding the speed lever assembly to the armrest frame and remove the faulty unit.
Install
Mount the new AGCO speed lever/joystick and secure the retaining bolts.
Reconnect
Plug in the electrical harness and reassemble the armrest trim.
Calibrate
Reconnect the battery, turn on the ignition, and use the tractor's diagnostic interface to perform the mandatory calibration procedure for the new armrest lever.
Clear Codes
Clear the 04.02.29 fault code from the TRANS module and test drive the tractor to verify proper powershift/range changes.
