Massey Ferguson 04.X.2C – TRANS: Steering Column Forward/Reverse Drive Lever Issue

The transmission controller is detecting an implausible signal, an open/short circuit, or a stuck button/switch within the power shuttle lever assembly on the steering column (Gear Lever Clutch Button Signal Received For Over 10 Seconds).

   Physically inspect the gear lever clutch button to ensure it is not mechanically stuck, jammed with debris, or internally shorted

   Use a multimeter to test the internal electrical contacts of the forward/reverse switch for continuity

   Verify the chassis ground connection for the forward/reverse relay and switch

   Inspect the wiring harness between the steering column lever and the transmission controller for chafing, breaks, or loose connector pins.

   Turn the tractor key to the OFF position.

   Remove the plastic steering column covers/cowling.

   This exposes the base of the forward/reverse power shuttle lever.

   Locate and disconnect the electrical connector plug.

   Typically a 4-terminal plug leading from the lever switch to the main harness.

   Remove the retaining screws or bolts securing the lever housing to the steering column.

   Remove the faulty lever assembly.

   Mount the new Genuine AGCO or aftermarket lever onto the column and secure the fasteners.

   Reconnect the electrical plug.

   Reinstall the steering column covers.

9. 9

   Clear the DTC 04.X.2C from the TRANS module.

   Use a specialized Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool.
