Issue description

This code indicates a hydraulic or sensor discrepancy within the transmission. The transmission control unit has commanded the turbo clutch solenoid valve (often designated as the TK valve or Y004) to open and vent the high-pressure circuit to the tank. However, the transmission pressure sensor is not detecting the expected drop in hydraulic pressure. This typically points to a mechanically jammed solenoid valve, a blocked hydraulic passage, a faulty solenoid coil, or a malfunctioning pressure sensor.

Check the cause

  1. Check the transmission fluid level and the condition of the hydraulic filters for contamination or metal debris.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and electrical connector at the turbo clutch solenoid (Y004) for rub points, corrosion, loose pins, and verify ground integrity.

  3. Measure the resistance of the solenoid coil with a multimeter to ensure it is not open or shorted.

  4. Use an AGCO diagnostic tool to monitor live transmission pressure data. If the pressure sensor reads an implausibly high value even when the tractor is off, the sensor itself is likely faulty.

  5. Remove the turbo clutch solenoid valve and inspect the bore and spool for physical jamming, scoring, or damaged O-rings.

Repair steps

  1. Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine.

  2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.

  3. Clean the exterior area around the transmission valve block thoroughly to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system during removal.

  4. Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the turbo clutch solenoid valve.

  5. Remove the retaining hardware (bolts or nut) securing the solenoid to the valve block.

  6. Carefully extract the solenoid valve. Have a catch pan ready, as a small amount of hydraulic fluid will escape.

  7. Inspect the valve block bore for debris or scoring. Clean the port with a lint-free cloth if necessary.

  8. Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean transmission fluid.

  9. Insert the new valve into the block and torque the retaining hardware to OEM specifications.

  10. Reconnect the electrical harness and the battery.

  11. Check the transmission fluid level and top up if any was lost during the procedure.

  12. Connect a diagnostic tool to clear the 04.X.46 fault code. Perform a transmission/clutch calibration if required by the service manual, and test drive the tractor to ensure the pressure drops correctly when the turbo clutch is activated.
