Check the cause

  1. Verify if the tractor is experiencing rough shifting, an inability to find the correct gear, or if the speedometer is acting up

  2. Perform diagnostic tests on the sensors using Wintest software before replacing them to verify failure and avoid warranty claim denials

  3. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector for damage or heavy contamination from heat, vibration, dust, and moisture

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Always disconnect the battery before starting work to prevent electrical damage to the tractor's computer.

  2. Locate the Sensor

The transmission input shaft speed sensor is usually accessible from underneath the tractor.

  3. Clean the Area

Thoroughly clean the sensor mounting area and the electrical connector to prevent dirt and moisture from entering the transmission housing or the new electrical connection.

  4. Remove and Replace

Unplug the connector, remove the old sensor, and install the direct-replacement sensor. No modifications should be needed.

  5. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery. Use a specialized diagnostic tool to clear the transmission fault codes (including 04.X.82) from the system.
