Massey Ferguson 04.X.EC – Transmission Controller (TRANS): Drive Pedal Not Calibrated (TRANS)

The transmission control system has lost the calibration parameters for the drive pedal, or the pedal's position sensor/potentiometer is sending voltage signals that fall outside of the previously learned calibration range.

   Inspect the drive pedal potentiometer/sensor for physical damage, debris buildup, or a sticking pedal mechanism.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading from the drive pedal sensor to the transmission controller for chafing, loose pins, or corrosion.

   Ensure the transmission fluid is at the proper operating temperature (between 35°C/95°F and 45°C/113°F).

   Preparation

   Position the tractor on flat ground. Ensure the transmission oil temperature is between 35°C (95°F) and 45°C (113°F). You can check this on the Dash Control Center's diagnostic screen.

   Warm-up

   If the tractor is cold, engage the PTO to help warm the transmission. Before calibrating, activate the PowerShuttle (forward and reverse) 10 times in each direction for 5-10 seconds to warm up the control units and solenoid valves.

   Reset Settings

   Configure the PowerShuttle progressivity settings all to '0' on the dash screen.

   Initiate Calibration

   Disengage the PTO, place the tractor in neutral, and release the parking brake. Raise the engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM.

   Enter Calibration Mode

   Raise the PowerShuttle arm to the raised position and hold it there while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch. Hold both for about 10 seconds until the right-hand dash screen displays 'Ct'.

   Run Calibration

   Once 'Ct' is displayed, place the PowerShuttle arm into the forward position. The calibration will begin automatically. It will take approximately 10 minutes, during which you will hear the transmission shifting.

   Completion

   When finished, the screen will display the current transmission ratio (e.g., '1A/2A').

   Save Settings

   Place the PowerShuttle into neutral, disengage the differential lock, idle the tractor down, and turn the engine off to save the new calibration data.

   Validation

   Restart the tractor and test drive using various maneuvers (forward to reverse, neutral to forward, etc.) to ensure smooth operation. If the calibration fails or the code immediately returns, the drive pedal sensor is likely faulty and must be replaced.
