Massey Ferguson 04.X.EE – Transmission Control Module (TRANS): Transmission Calibration Issue (TRANS)

Triggered when the onboard diagnostic system detects that the transmission calibration has not been completed, has been lost, or failed to execute properly due to out-of-range parameters.

   Ensure the tractor is parked on completely flat ground.

   Verify transmission oil temperature is between 35°C (95°F) and 45°C (113°F) via diagnostic screen 1.

   Warm up the tractor through normal operation (engage PTO to aid in warming fluid).

   Activate the PowerShuttle (forward and reverse) 10 times in each direction for 5 to 10 seconds to warm up valves.

   Configure the PowerShuttle progressivity settings (forward engagement, reverse engagement, and ratio shifting sensitivity) all to '0' on the dash screen.

   Prepare for calibration

   Once the transmission is at the correct temperature (35°C–45°C), disengage the PTO, place the tractor in neutral, and release the park brake.

   Raise engine speed

   Raise the engine speed to approximately 1500 RPM.

   Initiate calibration sequence

   Raise the PowerShuttle arm to the raised position (left of the steering wheel) and hold it there while simultaneously pressing the differential lock switch.

   Hold controls

   Hold both for approximately 10 seconds, or until the right-hand transmission gear screen on the dash displays "Ct".

   Begin calibration

   Once "Ct" is displayed, the tractor is ready. Place the PowerShuttle arm into the forward position to begin the calibration.

   Wait for calibration to complete

   The calibration takes approximately 10 minutes. The screen will continuously show "Ct", and it is normal to hear the transmission shifting and making noises during this time.

   Verify completion

   Once complete, the right-hand screen will display the transmission ratio you were in before starting (e.g., "1A/2A" or "1E/2E").

   Save settings

   Place the PowerShuttle into the neutral position, disengage the differential lock, idle the tractor down, and switch the engine off to confirm and save the new changes.

   Validate repair

   Restart the tractor and test drive it. Perform a variety of maneuvers (forward to reverse, neutral to forward, etc.) to ensure shifting is smooth and the fault code has cleared.
