Massey Ferguson 05.00.33 – TRANS1: Issue With 4wd Solenoid Circuit Dyna VT

The tractor's onboard diagnostic system has detected an electrical anomaly—such as an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power—in the circuit responsible for actuating the 4-Wheel Drive (4WD) engagement solenoid.

   Inspect the wiring harness running from the TRANS1 module to the 4WD solenoid valve on the transmission block for chafed wires, melted insulation, or pinch points.

   Disconnect the plug at the 4WD solenoid and check for water ingress, corrosion, or pushed-back pins.

   Measure the resistance across the pins of the 4WD solenoid coil using an Ohm meter. A healthy coil should measure around 10 Ohms. An open (infinite) or shorted (near 0 Ohms) reading indicates a failed solenoid.

   With the key ON and 4WD engaged via the cab switch, check for command voltage at the harness connector. If no voltage is present, trace the circuit back to the TRANS1 module to check for a broken wire.

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

   Repair Wiring (If Applicable)

   If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or corroded connector, splice in a new section of wire or replace the pigtail connector using weather-sealed heat shrink.

   Replace the Solenoid (If Applicable)

   Clean the area around the 4WD solenoid valve on the transmission to prevent dirt from entering the hydraulic system. Unplug the electrical connector. Unbolt/unscrew the faulty solenoid valve from the valve block. Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid and install it into the block. Torque to OEM specifications.

   Clear Codes

   Reconnect the battery. Use a specialized Massey Ferguson diagnostic tool to clear the stored 05.00.33 DTC from the TRANS1 module.

   Test Operation

   Start the tractor and cycle the 4WD switch on the side pillar. Verify that the 4WD engages and disengages properly and that the fault code does not return.
