Massey Ferguson 05.00.80 – Suspension Module: Issue With Front Axle Calibration Stored In Suspension Module Dyna VT (SUSPENSION)

Issue description

Calibration data for the suspended front axle is either missing, corrupted, or out of range within the tractor's electronic systems, preventing the front axle suspension from operating correctly.

Check the cause

  1. Check for related fault codes (e.g., 05.00.81 through 05.00.84, FA133-FA136, FA221-FA225) that indicate hardware or signal voltage issues rather than just a calibration loss

  2. Inspect the Suspended Front Axle Position Sensor (X166 or X167) housing for moisture intrusion or physical damage

  3. Ensure the wiring harness and connectors to the position sensor are clean, tight, and free of corrosion

  4. Verify the mechanical linkage and ring holder bush connecting the sensor to the axle are properly aligned and not damaged

Repair steps

  1. Prepare tractor for calibration

Park the tractor on a level surface with the engine running and the transmission in neutral.

  2. Initiate calibration mode

Press and hold the front axle suspension button on the side pillar/console until the indicator light begins to flash, then release it.

  3. Raise suspension

Press the button again and hold it until the front suspension raises to its maximum top position, then release it.

  4. Lower suspension

Press the 'off' (or lower) button and hold it until the suspension drops to its lowest bottom position, then release it.

  5. Complete calibration

The system will then automatically set itself between the upper and lower stops, completing the calibration.

  6. Test drive

Test drive the tractor to ensure the suspension operates smoothly and the code does not return.

  7. Disconnect sensor (if calibration fails)

If the calibration fails to save or the fault code immediately returns, disconnect the electrical connector from the front axle position sensor.

  8. Remove sensor cover

Unscrew the sensor cover attachment bolts.

  9. Remove sensor assembly

Unscrew the sensor support screws and remove the sensor assembly.

  10. Mark alignment

Mark the position of the ring holder bush/rubber ring in its housing to ensure correct alignment during reassembly.

  11. Install new sensor

Install the new sensor, aligning the bush with your previous marks.

  12. Reconnect and calibrate

Reconnect the wiring harness and perform the manual calibration procedure outlined in Steps 1-5.

  13. Clear DTCs

Clear the stored DTCs using a diagnostic tool.
